ANI is a joint underwriting association that acts on behalf of its 21 member companies to directly write nuclear liability insurance for commercial nuclear facilities in the United States including all commercial nuclear power plants. ANI's role in responding to nuclear power plant accidents is defined by Federal Legislation‐ the Price‐Anderson Nuclear Industries Indemnity Act. ANI currently writes up to $375 million of coverage and in the event a nuclear accident causes damages in excess of $375 million, each plant would be assessed a prorated share of the excess up to $111.9 million. With 104 reactors currently licensed to operate, this secondary tier of coverage is about $12.6 billion. ANI’s members include many of the largest insurance companies in the United States and in addition through reinsurance agreements with international nuclear insurance pools and mutual insurers, we can offer our insureds substantial levels of insurance protection.

The ANI Team of 29 professionals works closely together at our location in Glastonbury, Connecticut to meet the nuclear insurance needs of the US and international nuclear energy industries.
